This coyol is the seed of the palm Acromia aculeata. In Trinidad and Tobago we call it the Gru-Gru Palm. I had no idea before seeing this video that the seeds could be used for ornaments. I remember these trees well from my childhood and the thorns around the trunk are what remain foremost in my memory. I had tasted the fruit but they were not remarkable. We called the ones we encountered, Gru-Gru Bef.
